Sandy (Luke Halpin), the son of a Florida fisherman (Chuck Connors), rescues and nurses an injured dolphin (Flipper) and, in due course, forges a deep bond with the friendly animal. But the boy is crestfallen when, after Flipper regains his health, he must return the dolphin to the ocean. (official distributor synopsis)
