Plots(1)

Charlie Brooker, the creator of the BBC-Channel4 project Black Mirror, has himself defined the series saying: "If technology is a drug – and it does feel like it – then what, precisely, are the side-effects? This area – between delight and discomfort – is where Black Mirror is set. The "black mirror" of the title is the cold, shiny screen of a TV, a monitor, a smartphone.” The three stand-alone dramas are sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales with a techno-paranoia bent. Season 1 (2011) (S01)

English I really enjoyed the first season. The individual stories were each completely different, but each one appealed to me and I had a lot of fun, so I can't possibly give a lower rating. ()

The National Anthem (2011) (S01E01)

English Now, this was an unforgettable experience. You rarely get to see something so bizarre and yet so perfect. I had a good time with a great story while wondering why so many people agree with the abolition of the death penalty. It's clearly because of the internet, which means they no longer need to go to the scaffold, as they can indulge their sick taste in front of a monitor. ()

Fifteen Million Merits (2011) (S01E02)

English Once again, I was quite pleased with the creative team. As much as I hate talent shows, this was an enlightening look behind the scenes. We just use cell phones instead of exercise bikes... ()

The Entire History of You (2011) (S01E03)

English Even the third episode of the first season was brilliant, full of emotion yet raw and cold. I once read a horror story about a girl who found a ring thanks to which she could hear what people around her were thinking, and it couldn't have ended well. This was very similar. ()

Be Right Back (2013) (S02E01)

English The first episode of the second season reminded me of a short story entitled "Monkey's Paw", in which a mother wishes for the return of her dead son. I was just about to cancel my Facebook account, which I’m sure wouldn't take more than half a year, but then I realized I didn't have one. Oh well, there goes my only chance of reincarnation. ()

White Bear (2013) (S02E02)

English This was a chillingly good episode. That’s what I call a reality show. Sisyphus and Prometheus would surely appreciate the punishment. I enjoyed this episode and consider it the best of the five I've seen so far. ()

The Waldo Moment (2013) (S02E03)

English Yet again, I had a good time and it made me think, but compared to the other episodes, this one seemed the weakest. It reminded me of all the political parties and movements that became popular by criticizing everything, until it turned out they didn’t have any actual solutions to offer themselves. ()
