A group of college-aged ornithologists have taken a class trip deep into the wilderness on a quest to find and study a rare and possibly extinct species of bird. Despite receiving ominous warnings, both human and avian, they set up camp in a musty old house, only to find themselves under siege from mysterious supernatural forces. But it's not just the house or the hoards of hungry birds that they have to worry about, they quickly realize that they're also going to have to contend with a group of bloodthirsty zombies, who have descended on the deserted farmhouse! Some films make you think that their makers should be subjected to corporal punishment. And the first trial should be held in Italy, please!

Porn-guru D'Amato pulled it off. This film is surprisingly free of holes in logic, and the guy even spared cheap nudity. Pomo probably had a weaker moment, because there is nothing outrageous or disgusting, if you’re is used to the 1980s brutality of Italian cinema. The completely unknown youngsters were fine, the girls played it fine, I trusted their every twitch of fear, the violence was subtly dosed, and the second half even had a pleasantly depressing atmosphere. Only the title, Killing Birds, is nonsense, but that's just how the Italians sold their films in the 1980s.
