Dvacet tisíc mil pod mořem

Jiří Adamíra is probably the best Captain Nemo I've ever seen, I was also pleased with the fidelity to the subject and the very decent atmosphere at times. At the same time, however, the film was quite boring in places, with Professor Aronnax played by Jiří Pleskot constantly wondering about something like a little boy on a school excursion and not giving the impression of a scientist at all (perhaps a fault of John's script), not to mention Vítězslav Jandák as Conseil. Only the excellent Jiří Schmitzer as the explosive Ned Land was able to keep up with Adamíra. Very good music by Jiří Václav. I give it three and a half starfish. (16/10/2013)
