Canary

Twelve year old Koichi has spent his whole life hidden from the world, in the hands of a religious sect going by the name of Nirvana. A rebel, angry and defiant, his grandmother on his mother's side refuses to take him in, seeing in him a repetition of her daughter's behaviour before joining the sect. But his grandfather adopts Koichi's sister, leaving the boy in the hands of the social services. Koichi escapes from custody and tries to rescue his sister so that they can live together in a Utopian past where the family was united. (San Sebastian International Film Festival)
