English European animated films simply do not compare to American ones. When I compare films from Pixar, as well as Disney or Dreamworks, we are simply in a completely different league when it comes to animation. In the good animations, no one has a strangely colored helmet instead of hair on their heads, everything looks alive, even though it is obviously visually adapted for an animated film. In the case of the film "Ugly Duckling and Me," nothing like that is at risk. The animation is completely average and the story is even less than average. It is a variation of the classic fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, which is well known here as well. The film tries to be different by being modern, with catchphrases, but as a whole, it simply doesn't work and is not very entertaining. It is not revolutionary in the genre, just another story about how an evil rat can become better when it has an ugly duckling as a son, who is actually a swan. Simply put, a film about how an ugly creature is used, only for everyone to eventually hug each other. An animated film of this caliber cannot bring anything new to the viewer, and even children will not take much away from it.
