English Trnka has traditionally worked with the elite of the acting narrators of the modest Czech landscape, but as with Miler, Růžena Nasková has presented something so original that it almost makes me sick. It's not just the layer of pathos, it's something from a time when film didn't exist and now it's rubbing off. ()

English It's actually a simple story, but the lesson in it is beautiful. Maybe because it doesn't work in real life. Normally, the wife would probably kill him in the end. But that's exactly the beauty of this story, which is further enhanced by Trnka's drawing, which is not animated, which is a great shame, but Trnka, as an excellent artist, cannot deny himself. ()
