A William Friedkin horror based on the play by Tracy Letts. Having escaped her abusive ex-husband Goss (Harry Connick Jr.), Agnes (Ashley Judd), a lonely waitress with a tragic past, moves into a sleazy motel where her lesbian co-worker R.C. They begin a tentative romance but things aren't what they seem and Agnes is about to experience a claustrophobic nightmare reality as the bugs begin to arrive. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)

English Bug is not an audience-friendly or pleasant film. It is, however, remarkable and admirable in how believable and psychologically precise it is in portraying a weak individual’s descent into a highly paranoid hell. And also thanks to the interesting idea that when we enter into romantic relationships, we not only gain but also lose something. Bug is actually a different kind of romance about a fated encounter of two losers. A romance according to William Friedkin. ()

English A pretty interesting psycho-thriller (though the first half is more a dramatic probe into the lower layers of American society). The name made me expect something very different. Even though the story takes place basically in one room, the film holds the tension without problem and the two sicko protagonists are very good. PS: The conspiracy subplot would be good in The X-Files. ()
