English The opening quarter of an hour spouts humor, praise of rock, references for connoisseurs and... and simply everything. And that is the problem. The beginning sets the quality level so high that it was impossible to maintain. Which wouldn’t matter so much if it didn’t drop deep down to a desperately mediocre affair lacking ideas and humor. Its head is held above water just by the central Tenacious D duo and the musical interludes which were far too scarce. The creators would have done better if they had stylized it into a rock opera, rather than a comedy. When things are at their worst, the jamming ending with Satan begins and the picture rocks until its beautifully unhinged close. Jack Black proves that he is a rocker through and through and his charisma and excellent singing voice are about the only thing that is anywhere above average in this entire movie. Rather than watching the whole thing again, why not just put on the outstanding soundtrack. Just a shame that they wasted this opportunity of this becoming a cult movie (not only) for rock aficionados. The end product falls short of this, but the beginning is certainly good enough to achieve that status. And that’s good. ♫ OST score: 5/5 ()

English It's certainly a bit crazy at times, so it bothered me a little bit here and there, but even the second time I watched the movie, I had to fully dedicate myself to it because it's a collection of insane ideas. Jack Black and Kyle Gass are a blood type match, so they fit together perfectly, and the cameos of famous musicians and actors are enjoyable. Yeah, this will entertain you for a while. ()
