I was expecting a slightly funnier affair, but even so, The Nanny Diaries was at least on the whole an enjoyable, relaxing and distracting film. Scarlett Johansson (as in Iron Man 2) is really good with dark hair and tries to do what she can, but the script doesn't give her too many moments that would make her stand out. Her bonding with her little charge is endearing, though - unlike the lazy romantic line with Chris Evans. I loved how Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti handled their roles - both are almost unrecognizable, and Mr. X in particular is a slime-ball of the first order. Praise also goes to the playful soundtrack and the imaginative opening with scenes from the museum. Three stars are just right for The Nanny Diaries - it didn't deserve less or more.

An utterly redundant film that is only kept afloat by the beautiful Scarlett Johansson, the unhinged Paul Giamatti and the endearingly unlikeable Laura Linney. Otherwise, it's boring crap.
