After their car breaks down, a group of travelers find themselves stranded in a remote part of New England. After taking shelter in a spooky old mansion, complete with a graveyard, they discover a ouija board and decide to spend the night attempting to summon some spirits. But the group soon learns that playing with the forces of black magic isn't fun and games, and it's not long before they're head-to-head with all sorts of demonic creatures, shape shifters, and other forms of evil, all of whom are more than happy to pick them off in the most gruesome of ways. English In high school, my friends and I commandeered a tape recorder, which was our entry into a world of endless fun that consisted of lounging in the park, drinking boxed wine, and making up the most ridiculous stories and plots any of us could enter at will. Until now, I didn't think that could be a relevant creative method. And as a matter of fact, I still don't. ()

English Well, this movie really does not have any coherent plot, likeable and logical characters, or at least average actors, decent production value, competent directing or any noteworthy humor to speak of (should one look for this to be a horror comedy). This movie does not have much going for it at all, but what it does have is unique make-up and well done practical effects. You can tell it was inspired by classic horror movies such as Evil Dead or Night of the Living Dead. Spookies is more like a toss up of various ideas and inspirations that does not work as a whole, but it is because of the effects and make-up, and the fact there is always something happening in this god-awful flick, we can say it is entertaining. Well, apart from the blue werewolf or whatever it was that was wandering throughout the movie, that one I was not a fan of at all. ()
