Young Tommy Jarvis may have escaped from Crystal Lake, but he’s still haunted by the gruesome events that happened there. My God! The previous episodes weren’t great horror, but they at least had atmosphere! You could get a little scared! A New Beginning is bad in every aspect, it was almost unwatchable – cringe worthy from beginning to end.

This could have been the best film in the series. The script had finally been endowed with a clever plot and the director confuses the viewer for 2/3 of the film by not giving a peek under the cards of the killer's appearance. However, the ending is a rehash of the previous installments, which not only takes away from its appeal but also provides the worst possible denouement with a heavy cliffhanger for the next installment. It lacks inventiveness and a more authorial approach. The series is run entirely by B-movie hacks.

"Friday the 13th Part 5" is not a significant departure from the established quality so far, but the development of the mythology in a relatively interesting, albeit predictable direction, is something that makes this film a slightly more interesting experience than the previous one. I quite enjoyed this installment, and it must be said that the female nudity, which is quite frequent here, is also worth mentioning. Sometimes you have to be satisfied with similar scenes.
