1920- The inferno of the mine. Pavlak is the father of an immigrant Polish family, like thousands of others in the North of 3. Life is tough in the atmosphere of permanent hardship. His son, the secretive, passionate Victor, soon falls head over heels in love with a young French girl, Alice. Despite the walls of hostility between the two communities, the two young people have a heady, short, interrupted affair, at the end of which Victor sees his place taken by a young French miner, Emile. He is harshly pushed back into his isolation. 1934- 3 is the grip of depression. The situation is especially serious in the mines and become tense in the mining village. The flame is lit by a perfectly ordinary sparks and hundreds of Polish miners, led by Victor, occupy the pit. (Pyramide Distribution)
