Jury foreman Edward Weldon (Heggie) persuades the jury to send a murderous woman to the electric chair. On the night of her execution, Weldon's daughter Stella admits to having murdered her own lover in a fit of passion. This sends Weldon into a fit of conscience, where his legalistic tendencies conflict with his love for his daughter. Features a young Bogart in a minor role, whose presence encouraged a re-release of this film, originally titled MIDNIGHT, henceforth referred to as CALL IT MURDER. (official distributor synopsis)
