Plots(1)

Jason Statham's Chev Chelios has not only survived the fall from a helicopter that ended the earlier film, but is now on the operating table, awake and watching as some Chinese villains harvest his "tart" in order to implant it in their aging leader (David Carradine). Chev quickly dispatches the bad guys, but the fun's just starting; the mechanical ticker they've put inside him needs constant recharging, so as Chev pursues the real organ, he must use whatever's available (jumper cables, a police taser, a car cigarette lighter, high voltage power lines) to keep the fake one going. English Neveldine and Taylor may give a different dimension to the concept of "over the top," but they still don't really provide much originality. The aesthetics, tuned to the form of video-game-comic hyperbole, only work occasionally and are mostly drowned in a numbing ballast of copied scenes (from each other), which gets boring after a while - which is paradoxical when taking the frantic pace into consideration. It is better not to think about the fact that what happens in the film is mostly total decadence. Jason is an incredible tough guy and Amy is sexy, while the rest of it amounts to my jaw getting tired from yawning. ()

English End of fun. Where the first part was a perfect ride, the sequel is now just a parody and a race for the most unacceptable absurdity. The maximum experience suddenly turns into a strange unpleasantness, where the divine couple Jason+Amy mainly gains additional points. ()

English The first Crank second time around and so maybe a little lamer in my opinion. It’s missing the initial surprise that Taylor and Neveldine stuffed into something that I thought would be a traditional action movie. High Voltage takes the same concept and drives it to the edge of a cliff. And often beyond that. There’s no shortage of original ideas and even though they are completely twisted, I bet you that you’ve never seen the like anywhere else. P.S.: I’m quite intrigued what your average Linkin Park fan (or groupie) would say to seeing Chester Bennington in a movie like this. I can see their long faces right now. Hee, hee. ()

English Oh, my God. Action/Thriller/Comedy - that's supposedly the genre of this film. There is action, the film has nothing to do with a thriller, and I laughed maybe once. I already consider the first film to be an unprecedented abomination, but this addition is almost impossible. It's basically a carbon copy of the first one, only there's more “fuck," more silicone boobs, more sex, and Statham's (the Terminator's half-brother) heart is pumping electricity instead of adrenaline. Like the telephone ending in the first film, the ending here feels "fiery" - I like it, it's funny and it has some flair, but the 90 minutes that precede it are wasted time. ()
