Plots(1)

Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank Ponch Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten-up former pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP. The inexperienced rookie and the hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kick-starting a real partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker's unique bike skills and Ponch's street savvy it might just work...if they don't drive each other crazy first. (Warner Bros. US)

English Michael Peña and Dax Shepard are brutally overacting here. They are playing at the classic buddy cop action comedy which hasn’t really been here for a long time. But the problem is that even though the technical aspect of the action scenes is spot on, the relationship of the two idiots really didn’t work here. Michael portrays an idiot; Dax portrays an idiot. Michael is at least a tiny bit funny but when they are together it simply doesn’t work. ()

English I like buddy movies, but with this one, I felt that the buddy element doesn't really work and that the characters are somewhat forcibly thrust into it, relying only on clichés, occasionally seasoned with quite harsh injuries that help the film along. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes not at all. And the story is one big cliché. ()
