Neil Patrick Harris stars as Billy, A.K.A. Dr. Horrible, a budding super-villain whose plans for world domination continually go awry. His two goals: getting accepted into the Evil League of Evil, and working up the guts to speak to his laundromat crush Penny, played by Felicia Day. The only thing standing in his way is Captain Hammer, Billy's superhero arch-nemesis played by Nathan Fillion. With one big score, Billy could get into the E.L.E. and earn the respect of Penny, but only if he can keep her away from the dashing Captain Hammer... (official distributor synopsis)

English A somewhat crazy musical flick, but also one that scores points on the scale of audience sympathy quite easily. N.P. Harris is an icon who hasn't (yet) become stale, and the singing numbers have such gusto and pour out such emotion that one begins to think of the seedy alleys of Montmartre in Paris. It's a good idea, but I can see it being stretched out to about a 5-part miniseries of a mere half-hour for each episode. Also, the deliberate "cheapness" (?) got on my nerves at times. ()

English Really horrible. I know that it’s intentional, but unfortunately it isn’t funny. The only more promising moments are when they sing, when everything works as it should (primarily the intro and ending of episode two are quite perfect), but when they start speaking... How can I describe it? It’s hell. But still, only because Whedon was trying to do something original, I was bent on awarding it a positive score. But then came the last episode and my plan soon fell flat on its face. While in the episodes preceding it, you could see that they aren’t taking themselves seriously, pretending a great tragedy has occurred doesn’t work and comes across just dumb, more than anything else. English It is possible to watch the ambitious villain, narcissistic superhero, and naive advocate for the rights of the homeless and still feel as good as when Whedon lets me into his vampire universe? It is - especially when I can't stop singing individual tunes and thinking about how everything can fit so perfectly together despite the completely atypical ending. The entertainment of a small group of people and a stroke of genius in one. Now the nightmare's real, now Doctor Horrible is here. ()
