Plots(1)

When James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) has to cancel his dream summer vacation and make some money for grad school, the only job he can get is at Adventureland, a tacky amusement park where the games are rigged and the rides make you hurl. But it’s where he meets Em (Kristen Stewart), and his rollercoaster ride to nowhere turns into the best summer ever. (Lionsgate UK)

English Teen experiences from one summer in rural America: new friends and first love. Adventureland is a pleasant relationship movie that won’t make you laugh or cry, but it at least tries to be as natural, sober and relatable as possible. ()

English A classic movie about how some people were made for each other and some aren’t, wrapped in a story for youngsters around the age of 20. The Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg duo carry the entire Adventureland forward and everything seems somehow wonderfully natural. It’s a really enjoyable watch. ()

English Boring, so much that it ended up being the only thing that surprised me about this film. One star for the music and one star for the criminally underused Kristen Wiig. I wasn't amused, I wasn't moved... Nothing. It’s a shame. ()

English As a probe into the world of young (not only) college students, I wasn't very impressed with Adventureland, especially because it didn't quite meet my genre expectations. It was supposed to be a romantic dramedy, but there were plenty of comic situations, the dramatic line around the characters' fates and development was more annoying than impressive, and there was no romance in the true sense of the word. In short, a film that evaporates like steam over a pot after the screening, with its biggest downside for me being the unlikeable characters and the rather shallow plot. ()
