Morphia tells the story of a young doctor who, in 1917, in the midst of the revolution period, arrives from the city to the freezing countryside. His first night of operations, the doctor prescribes himself a small dose of morphine to get over his nervousness: a circumstantial measure that winds up becoming an addiction. (Sitges Film Festival)

One country house and its courtyard are enough to perfectly recreate the atmosphere of a certain
period, place and chilling winter. Morphine is very well made, but what is it about? What is the book on
which it is based about? We learn nothing about the characters, including the leading one, and we just
see them go about their lives and gradually succumbing to drug addiction. And in the end, nothing gets
resolved for anyone.
