As Indonesia prepares to invade the tiny nation of East Timor, five Australian-based journalists go missing. I have never heard of this problem in East Timor, which made the movie all the more interesting for me. I’m basically glad that Balibo was made, because no one else would be able to tell it in exactly this way. It’s incredibly accurate, sometimes overly documentary. Which, on the other hand, is a bit detrimental. Anyway, that’s why the film shows everything that these people had to go through at the time. And it was definitely not pleasant.
