English Difficult to classify poetic film, which relies on excellent cast led by Marcello Mastroianni and Michel Piccoli. A story about unfulfilled desire for parenthood, which finds an escape in the form of kidnapping small children by an Argentine exile living in Paris in relatively luxurious emigration. The film is strong with its camera work and poetic images, especially from the environment of the fantastic theater of a magician and cabaret artist portrayed by Michel Piccoli. These scenes resemble the old-fashioned Mollier's films. It is a film full of bizarre human relationships and passions with ambiguous moral message. Dreams also play an important role, with some scenes parodying Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin. Overall impression: 65%. ()
