'Charlie's Angels' star Jaclyn Smith takes the lead in this story of a simple love affair which becomes a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Katherine Atwell (Jaclyn Smith) has come up with a foolproof plan: she will kill her rich husband, have her lover (James Franciscus) take his place, and no one will be any the wiser. Trouble is, she hasn't factored stetson-wearing investigator Donner (Robert Mitchum) into the equation, and when he gets wind that something is wrong, there's little that can put him off the trail. Nightkill has its own pacing, it has its very good scenes, and then it has a finale that wants so badly to come across as something that's really clever, but doesn't really have enough to ground you by the end. There is a great final scene that I really watched, because it's beautifully done in terms of the mask. I didn't expect it to be this gritty.
