Plots(1)

When her four-year anniversary passes without a marriage proposal, apartment stager Anna Brady (Amy Adams) decides enough is enough. Investing in the ancient Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on Leap Day, Anna decides to follow her cardiologist boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) from Boston to Dublin and get down on one knee herself. It’s just what her wayward-but-well-intentioned father, Jack (John Lithgow), would want her to do. Simple. Easy. But when unreliable airplanes, inclement weather and bad luck leave the controlling Anna stranded on the other side of Ireland, she must enlist the help of the carefree-but-surly chef Declan (Matthew Goode) to get her across the country. And as Anna and Declan bicker across the Emerald Isle, they discover something they should have known all along: the road to love can take you to very unexpected places. (Universal Pictures US)

English Another run-of-the-mill romance without a single idea, moreover with barely-there chemistry between the central duo. Amy Adams might be cute, but that’s not enough. However, Leap Year at least has nice Irish scenery and one scene (the departing bus) that moved me. ()

English Everything seems to be in perfect order. Ireland is the epitome of a dream country, Matthew Goode displays his loner charisma, and Amy Adams is Amy Adams. But the moment the subtitles start, the inevitable truth comes. Leap Year is nothing more than a filled micro-box. Filled to the tee, but with a desperately predictable pattern where everything is clear, including planned plot surprises. Therefore, the final evaluation must be clear in advance. ()

English My huge weakness for films from Ireland has deepened again. And it might be the biggest cliché ever, but the trees are falling and the sky is smiling even though it's raining. Love in my eyes like crazy. At least three scenes where my eyes teared up and at least two scenes where I couldn't stop giggling. I know very few romantic movies that have that kind of atmosphere. English I didn't have the slightest problem with this film. Thanks to the likeable couple, the beautiful Irish exteriors and the perfectly chosen music, there was always something to see, and the story, which according to the distributor's text on the DVD cover was something like a bland romance, ended up being unexpectedly funny, sensitive, engaging and even surprisingly evolving a few times (I really wasn't sure how everything would turn out, although I had a hunch). Simply one of the most relaxing films of recent times. ()

English I can't help it, but this pleasantly flowing romance set in the beautiful surroundings of Ireland was incredibly appealing to me. I'm quite shocked because I don't really seek out Amy Adams movies. I may have to rethink my relationship with her. Another pleasant surprise for me was Matthew Goode, whom I hadn't really noticed until now. Leap Year also features two absolutely splendid romantic scenes, and that silhouette scene by the lake ending with vomiting really amused me a lot. (80%) ()
