Peter O'Toole absolutely captivated me here, and his character is brilliantly portrayed, even in contrast to the romantic storyline he has. Petula Clark is a great companion to him, and this relatively simple but humanly beautiful story about a teacher got to me more than the modern version. You might want to check out the 1939 version.
