English G.I. Blues is great. The film was made when Elvis Presley was actually in the army in Germany. In the summer of 1959, exterior shots were prepared for the film so that Elvis could arrive at the Paramount studios in the spring of 1960. The script was influenced by the humor of the people around Jerry Lewis. The original name evolved from Christmas in Berlin, later Cafe Europa, and then to the final G.I. Blues. Fans have been waiting for a new Elvis movie since King Creole (1958) and they were happy with what they got. The soundtrack has of course won various awards. My favorite is "Wooden Heart." ()
