A classically conceived musical dedicated to a country singer. The film also made it to us back then, not for the Oscar laurels, but because Loretta Lynn (1932-2022) was a real miner's daughter. Beside Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones, Beverly D'Angelo shines as the prematurely deceased Patsy Cline (1932-1963). ()
This is a movie where the great Sissy Spacek was able to demonstrate her acting mastery and above all, her versatility. She truly deserved the Oscar for her performance. It is wonderful to watch her and believe every transformation, every scene. Tommy Lee Jones is a fantastic partner for her and the film has the right earthiness. ()
