Bran Nue Dae is a charming new music-driven road movie and romantic comedy starring Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush that literally bursts onto the screen with unbridled energy and fun. Loosely based on one of Australia's most beloved and popular musicals, Bran Nue Dae is a foot stomping tour-de-force centering on the romantic adventures of a young aboriginal couple set against the spectacularly beautiful Australia. Willie (Rocky McKenzie) falls foul of Father Benedictus (Rush), his school's iron-willed headmaster and runs away. Stranded in Perth, Willie is befriended by Uncle Tadpole (Ernie Dingo), a streetwise character who offers to help Willie get back home, and they hit the highway, catching rides with a handful of colourful strangers, while Father Benedictus is in hot pursuit.
