Yes, I am heavily influenced by Burton's style, but with him I simply had the feeling that he understood Dahl's original and translated it exactly as it was, just adding something extra. Here, there is simply too much of that something extra, and visually it just isn't as beautiful. Maybe if I had seen it earlier, but I don't know... It's obvious that the visual effects were missing here.

A crazy affair that doesn’t have much in common with the book. That wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t so bad. The singing Wilder will haunt my nightmares for years to come, and otherwise I like him a lot. I hope Burton will do a better job.
