English Right from the start, House at the End of the Street comes across as hackneyed, but at least the actors’ faces and the nicely depicted relationship between the characters are pleasing. In terms of horror, however, it doesn’t work at all. At least some thriller-style suspense eventually comes in the final scene, but it’s not enough to make up for the film’s unoriginality, sometimes dumb editing and generally bad directing, not to mention the silliness of the screenplay. English I’ll be nice and will give it three stars, though not “I recommend it” three stars, but rather “I survived” three stars. It’s such an unremarkably average thriller, but as a snack, why not. It’s not too stupid, it’s well made and, compared to other characters in teenage thrillers and horror, Lawrence is fine. After the trailer everyone laughed at how predictable it would be, but, to some extent, this time it wasn’t true. Yeah, sure, this kind of thriller can have only one kind of twist, but the viewer won’t guess very easily the “who, why and how much”. A conciliatory 50 percent. ()

English Jennifer Lawrence is without a doubt the great asset of the whole film. She's basically a dopey girl who may not be particularly attractive to most of the male cast, but to me she represents the more "normal" part of the girl population and is a human and natural actress in the truest sense of the word. If the main character had been some busty blonde with too much makeup, I wouldn't even have bothered with this one. As far as the story is concerned, it's obviously not a very original affair, but on the other hand I certainly can't say that I was clear about everything from the beginning and that nothing surprised me. A technically average affair with an above-average script. Jennifer is of course great... :-) ()
