Touching the Sky

After a longer time, it’s pleasing to see a mountain documentary that’s not about eight-thousanders and their “conquerors”, but about two crazy friends being goofy in front of the camera and dancing on a glacier under an unknown six-thousander, on which they will make the first ascent the next day solely for their own enjoyment (and not for fame and prestige). What’s more, it’s in the Karakoram range in Pakistan, which with its sharp peaks is even more dramatic and photogenic than Nepal. (01/11/2011)
