English In the poster, Elizabeth Olsen looks as if she’s about to throw up, but Silent House doesn’t deserve such reaction. It doesn’t significantly disparage the original from Uruguay (nor does it add anything to it). That one was more thrilling, scarier and more inventive (well, it was the first), but on the other hand, its logic was more haphazard. Compared to it, the American remake is more rational (the protagonist really tries to get out of the house! :-D) and more straightforward, and the ending is more literal. And though I welcome the more straightforward outcome, it’s too literal for my taste. The overall impression from the remake is weaker but still good. ()

English A nice attempt held above water mostly by the experimental “single take” format, thanks to which we’re constantly with the heroine and it’s impossible to figure out the final twist too much in advance, plus the always convincing and at times visually flawless Elizabeth. The story is very boring and silly, and the climax doesn’t do much to correct that impression, it only adds a slightly different justification. 40% ()
