It's been said that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were killed in a standoff with the Bolivian military in 1908. In Blackthorn, Cassidy (Shepard) survived and is quietly living out his years under the name James Blackthorn in a secluded Bolivian village. Tired of his long exile from the U.S. and hoping to see his family again before he dies, Cassidy sets out on the long journey home. However, when an unexpected encounter with an ambitious young criminal (Eduardo Noriega) derails his plans, he is thrust into one last adventure, the likes of which he hasn't experienced since his glory days with the Sundance Kid. English A very interesting movie toying with the idea of astand-alone spin-off of a legendary Western movie character. It’s just a shame that the director was paying attention to the visual side, which is amazing, at the expense of the story. There were a lot of moments that were awfully boring and that I’d gladly skip the next time. In any case, it’s a Western movie and those are always a little difficult for me to get into. Which means that if I wanted to rewatch this movie in a few years, I’d probably give it an additional star and the scenes that bored me now could become interesting. I don’t know why, but no other movie genre stirs such conflicting emotions within me like Western does. I watched this for the Challenge Tour 2015. ()
