A fractured gang of kidnappers are stalked by a mysterious creature while hiding out in an abandoned school as dissent grows amongst their ranks. It was the perfect crime abduct the daughter of a wealthy socialite, and simply lie low until the ransom is delivered. But as the criminals hole up in a derelict school and guilt sets in, a creature that emerges on the first day each spring to seek a sacrifice stalks the hallways in search of an offering. English Conflict, the trailer and the posters were very appealing, I really believed in this film, but in the end it’s nothing but an average small indie horror flick; basically, a compilation of clichéd motifs and unoriginal scenes, the kind we’ve seen many times. It is watchable, yes, it’s very well made technically, the atmosphere of the American backwaters is effective, the final chase with the monster-killer is also pretty good, but I was expecting more. Other than the unfortunately inefficient soldering of several motifs, what hurts this film the most is that the relationships between the characters don’t work and the aforementioned monster-killer behaves only to look nice on camera, regardless of what is going on.
