Battle of the Year

  • USA Battle of the Year: The Dream Team
Trailer 1

Plots(1)

Though America initially set up the 'Battle of the Year' competition, where the best b-boying (or breakdancing) performers from a number of countries square off, a team from the US hasn't taken the trophy home for 15 years. This greatly concerns L.A. rap mogul Dante (Laz Alonso) who attempts to convince his friend Blake (Josh Holloway), a top basketball coach who has fallen on hard times, to take charge of this year's team. Though Blake is initially sceptical, he quickly realises that his ability to build team spirit may be the missing ingredient. Can his team, which includes Rooster (Chris Brown), prevail in this year's competition? (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

English When at the beginning of a dance movie you hear that Americans don't have a good enough team to compete with other nations, it's quite clear that by the end of the movie, they will have that team. Actually, they already have it at the beginning, but it needs to be awakened in those people. So, a basketball coach, who has enough of his own problems, hires them and turns all those rebels into disciplined guys, and they can go to the championship or something like that. Well, why bother with something more complicated, because it's mainly about relationships, relationships that are incredibly stupid, boring, and predictable. Acting-wise, it's nothing special, Josh Holloway is probably here just because he's a bit famous and has a good face. It's a waste of time, and the saddest thing is that even from the perspective of dance, there is very little of it here. The ending won't save it. ()
