First Position

For aspiring dancers, the world of ballet is expensive, exclusive, strenuous and short. The feature documentary First Position captures a year in the lives of six young dancers from around the world as they train for one of the most prestigious ballet competitions in the world: The Youth America Grand Prix. In spite of injury, failure, prejudice, and poverty, these young dancers manage to remain inspired, and when the curtain finally rises, to inspire everyone else. (Zlín Film Festival)
