The documentary The World after the Dinosaurs will guide the audience through the evolution of mammals from their first appearance more than 100 million years ago to the point where they have gradually taken control of the planet. The uneasy evolution of mammals was at first determined by the dominant dinosaurs, which had a fundamental influence on how mammals adapted to the challenging conditions. It was not until the Earth was hit by the asteroid and the extinction of dinosaurs that mammals finally had the chance to evolve into the thousands of species known today. The World after the Dinosaurs provides an insight into natural history museums and archaeological sites all over the world, where scientists unearth precious fossils from mud or asphalt. Thanks to computer animation the audience will have the opportunity to witness how extinct animals can rise from the remains of their bones and walk in the present. They can also look forward to a simulation of the conditions that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. The documentary clearly summarizes both the known and the unknown knowledge concerning the evolution of species and it will be rewarding for those with a professional interest in biology and geology, and for the lay person with an interest in evolution.
