Plots(1)

Former lovers caught up in a conspiracy when they're both placed on the same defence team for a high-profile terrorist trial. When terrorists explode a bomb in a crowded London market, the only surviving suspect Farroukh Erdogan (Denis Moschitto), is arrested pending trial. Because of the nature of the classified evidence involved, lawyers Martin Rose (Eric Bana) and Claudia Simmons-Howe (Rebecca Hall) are appointed by the Attorney General (Jim Broadbent) to represent Farroukh, with Claudia strictly limited to reviewing the 'closed' secret evidence submitted by the security services, and Martin representing the accused in open court. With no contact permitted between the two lawyers during the trial, they're decision to conceal a previous affair from the courts comes back to haunt them when, after uncovering unsettling facts about their client, they find themselves under surveillance and fearing for their lives. English British justice stands proudly as a lighthouse…blah blah. A pretty interesting court thriller thanks to the British feel. I really like conspiracy stuff and some of the revelations were pleasantly surprising. Bana and Hall fit the role just right, even though the show they put on is nothing special, it leaves in you with a mainly positive sensation. ()

English If this film didn't get so tangled up in the relationships between the characters, which are completely unnecessary, and simply focused on the trial, and if it was filmed in a raw, almost emotionless way, maybe it would be an exceptional film, but like this, it's a courtroom drama combined with a thriller and even a romance. But one wonders why, because like this, it's just one of many, even though Bana once again shows that he doesn't have to die in a movie to be tolerable. ()
