Hella is a housekeeper and loves her work. Many are impressed by her commitment, from Brigette in the laundry department to the Managing Director Braunstein. Only her immediate supervisor in housekeeping, Vera, fears Hella as a rival. One day Hella's enthusiasm is heavily dampened when she witnesses Braunstein sexually harassing Shirin, one of the maids. Hella first attempts to handle the matter alone. Her efforts appear to succeed. When Shirin is harassed again, Hella threatens to call in the police. Intimidated by Braunstein, Shirin withdraws her complaint. Now, Hella becomes the target of the hotel director's harassment. Not having evidence, Hella attempts to let Braunstein hang himself, appearing open to getting paid for her silence. But with false testimony from Vera, Braunstein succeeds in turning the situation around, filing a complaint of extortion against Hella who immediately loses her job.
