It’s Jack's 10th birthday, but the clown has cancelled. His dad, Kent, finds an old clown suit in the attic and saves the party. But after the party is over, Kent has a problem… the suit won't come off. What starts as a joke quickly turns into a hellish nightmare. Kent can feel himself changing, and his desperate attempts to free himself just leave him in agonising pain. As the suit takes hold of his body, Kent slowly endures a brutal and agonising transformation. As he changes, an uncontrollable hunger begins to consume him; an overwhelming and insatiable hunger… for children. (StudioCanal UK)

English "Clown" is not an innovative film, even though it tries to present a quite interesting mythology, but that doesn't mean it's not a great horror. And that's exactly what I would see as the main aspect of this movie. It's a horror that can touch upon your fears that you hide within yourself, it's a dark horror, excellently escalating even in how the clown transforms. Yes, it is also very well done in terms of special effects, you just won't really enjoy much of Eli Roth in it. ()

English A few tweaks in the script and it could be perfect. It needs to get rid of some of the filler, expand and develop more deeply the final moral dilemma and a more uniform atmosphere. What bothers me the most about Clown is how many times the mood changes from one scene to the other: from laughter to depression, from oppressive tension to horror fun. But even then it’s fine. There hasn’t been such an effective monster for quite some time and his final form is especially cool. I can’t remember a better horror film with a clown as a character. It had more potential, but I’m satisfied. ()

English Finally, a clown who treats kids like they deserve to be treated. And who looks ugly and scary, at least in the final stage of his transformation. Its thus a shame about the absolutely mishandled balance between serious horror drama and unintentionally ridiculous B-movie bullshit. Or rather it’s not so much mishandled, but lacking self-awareness. Which is even worse. ()
