A probe among the inhabitants of a small town in the post-war Netherlands, where everything is still outdated and ossified, but where a single woman who knows what she wants arrives. That's quite inappropriate. But this film is presented with such calmness, love and realism that it just gets to you. And so does knowing how stupid people are.
