Girl with Guitar (2016) (S04E01)

English Hmmm, so far, this was the weakest entry into the new season of this series. Many storylines were opened, but none of them really interested me. For the first time, I was really bored while watching Ray Donovan. The writers really didn't succeed, so the plot was going around in circles. ()

Marisol (2016) (S04E02)

English The second episode of the third season was significantly better than the previous one. Lisa Bonet deserves a great deal of credit for her portrayal of Marisol Campos, successfully stirring up the overly calm surface of the new story. To sum it up, the pace was livelier, there was even some action, but perfection still had a long way to go. ()

Little Bill Primm's Big Green Horseshoe (2016) (S04E03)

English In the third episode, I experienced such a standard of this series. It wasn't anything amazing, on the other hand, it wasn't bad at all, something was always happening and I wasn't in danger of getting bored by accident. Although I knew that Mickey's actions wouldn't end in the expected success, the result amused me. "Learn so that you can rake the leaves." "I won't be a gardener." ()

Federal Boobie Inspector (2016) (S04E04)

English In this case, I hesitated with the rating a bit, I was deciding between three and four stars because the pace of the story slowed down again, Mickey's storyline didn't interest me at all once again, and Terry's concern for others really got on my nerves. However, I was pleased and entertained by the return of ex-agent Cochran, so in the end, I decided on 4*-. ()

Get Even Before Leaving (2016) (S04E05)

English The fifth episode was quite watchable, partially comedic and partially depressing. The comedic part included acquiring four million dollars, everything that was related to it really annoyed me. The second part involved cancer and postpartum depression, or whatever it was. 4* ()

Fish and Bird (2016) (S04E06)

English In this episode, it was nice to see how the pace of the story immediately slows down when focusing on events in Ray's family. If it wasn't for the baptism, battle with cancer, and lonely Bunchy, everything flowed quite smoothly. I really wish Conor would end up like Belikov, that jerk really annoys me. ()

Norman Saves the World (2016) (S04E07)

English The plot of the seventh episode wasn't bad at all, Mickey's prison adventure was quite funny, the same could be said about the storyline of Ed Cochran, and I even got some suspense, although there wasn't much of it. In one of the previous reviews, I welcomed the casting of Lisa Bonet, but now I'm starting to be very bothered by her constant return as Marisol. ()

The Texan (2016) (S04E08)

English For the eighth part to excite me, there was too much Conor and heart-wrenching scenes with the beaten-down Bunchy. I would prefer to bash the first mentioned one's head against the curb, and in the case of Bunchy, I would welcome it if the writers went in a different direction. Well, the ending indicated some hope, so I will remain hopeful. 4* ()

Goodbye Beautiful (2016) (S04E09)

English After the previous slightly sleepy episode, I finally got some action again and decided to celebrate it with a five-star rating. Mick, the notorious bungler's raid on Primm amused me, and the events surrounding Ray and the Moscow raiders intrigued me greatly. ()

Lake Hollywood (2016) (S04E10)

English I don't know what the creators are doing when they follow up a very good episode with one that practically brings nothing substantial. I only appreciated the departure of one character who got on my nerves, I would advocate for Conor to follow her as soon as possible, that would be lovely... ()

Chinese Algebra (2016) (S04E11)

English To be honest, the eleventh episode disappointed me just like the previous one. The whole storyline with Mickey's journey to Las Vegas seemed absolutely unnecessary to me and only served as artificial prolongation of the plot. The story had no pace at all, the preparation for the confrontation with the Russians has been dragging on for several episodes, and there was no action at all (not to mention the lack of tension). ()

Rattus Rattus (2016) (S04E12)

English Even the final episode did not fill me with great enthusiasm this time. True, I finally witnessed some action, but the plot seemed very predictable to me, and the final showdown with the Russian mafia felt like a bad joke. Because of this, I was fed with concerns about the future of the main characters for several episodes. Hmmm... ()

Season 5 (2017) (S05)

English I said about Season 4 that it was the worst so far but it’s no longer true. Season 5 was dragging on from the opening to the final episode. The cancer theme, so popular with filmmakers, provided a painfully slow pace, and gave the creators of the series unprecedented opportunities to emotionally blackmail the more sensitive viewers. If it hadn’t been for a few bright exceptions, the series would have become annoying and unwatchable for me. Due to the gradually declining quality, I have serious concerns about the next season. Hopefully I’m wrong and will be pleasantly surprised. ()

Abby (2017) (S05E01)

English I have to admit, I was completely lost watching this episode. At one point, I even checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally skipped to the sixth season. Even after realizing it was indeed season five, I still couldn’t follow what was happening. They were discussing events and memories that seemed to have occurred off-screen, during the break between seasons. Pretty disappointing overall. ()

Las Vegas (2017) (S05E02)

English Maybe it’s just me, but I couldn’t get into the new style of storytelling in this season. It doesn’t feel like the Ray Donovan I used to know. The constant time jumps are really annoying, and the plot feels very slow-paced. It drags on and gets pretty boring at times. ()

Dogwalker (2017) (S05E03)

English The third episode still didn't manage to pull me into the plot completely. I miss the earlier seasons that didn't wallow in self-pity. This season's story feels slow and drags a bit, making me nostalgic for when Ray was actually fun. ()

Sold (2017) (S05E04)

English I almost thought I’d be bumping up the rating for this episode. Mickey’s solution to the Japanese problem was hilarious, and Brandon’s million-dollar sandwich was a highlight. But once again, the creators couldn’t resist throwing in an oncology subplot, and Bridget’s involvement didn’t really do it for me. 3*+ ()

Shabbos Goy (2017) (S05E05)

English Some parts reminded me of my favorite series, but there was too much filler dragging things down. The plotline around Natalie James felt especially dull with its repetitive scenes and boring conversations. Plus, the attempt to tug at my heartstrings using cancer really annoyed me. ()

Shelley Duvall (2017) (S05E06)

English I can't shake the feeling that the creators shifted their target audience in the fifth season. All these constant sentimental flashbacks and emotional outbursts just don't do it for me. I feel a bit deceived, honestly. ()

If I Should Fall from Grace with God (2017) (S05E07)

English What? Did Ray Donovan really get back to its original form? This is the only episode out of the seven where I felt like I got exactly what I wanted. If it weren't for Terry's self-pitying rants, I would have happily given it a fifth star. ()
