Philanthropic Dr Reemer (Leo G. Carroll) has developed a new radioactive serum that can make animals grow at an enormous rate, and he plans to use it to help solve the world's food shortage. But when an accident in the lab leads to the serum infecting a tarantula, the situation suddenly becomes much more serious. Escaping into the desert, the deadly giant tarantula starts hunting human prey, and it's up to square-jawed doctor Matt Hastings (John Agar) and Reemer's assistant Stephanie (Mara Corday) to track it down and destroy it.
