When big city detective Michael (Will Wallace) relocates to the country with his wife Rachel (Emily Brooks) after the death of their young daughter, a job at the small sheriff's office holds the quiet life that he needs. However, on his first day in town Sheriff Hendricks (Don Swayze) informs him of an investigation into a missing teenage girl. When Michael discovers that the girl's boyfriend is currently living in a mental institution, his doctor (Dean Cain) suggests there may be evil spirits at play. Meanwhile, Rachel has nightmares about a bloodied child that leads her to the location of the missing girl. It is down to Michael to find out what's really going on in this sleepy town... The Appearing brings absolutely nothing to the table and just pretends to be a completely mediocre exorcism horror, which it ultimately is. The only scary scene is when someone is singing and you don't know who it is. Latin really doesn't save everything, and saying it's a dead language won't exactly give you goosebumps. I doubt Daric Gates is gonna keep making horror movies for a living.
