Plots(1)

Portraying with remarkable detail and empathy the day-to-day existence of a working-class 15-year-old boy in Barnsley (an unforgettable performance by David Bradley), and the profound change that the rearing of a kestrel brings to his otherwise troubled home life, Kes has enchanted generations of viewers since its release. A rich, gently poetic work, filled with Loach's trademark respect for his characters and astonishing skill at eliciting outstanding performances. (Eureka Entertainment)

English Growing up in this environment and in this educational system, it simply fucks a person up. When I see similar movies, I always think about how lucky I was to have parents who gave me love and took care of me. The main character has this, but in a very twisted form. And then he has a tragic fate, which you can only imagine how it will turn out. Harsh, unfortunately, only because people behave like assholes. ()
