In March 1919 Rajnay takes an oath that he will fight against Communism all his life. After the Trianon Peace Treaty he joins the secret organisation of the Pikemen who advocate to restore the lost territories to Hungary. In the nineteen thirties he is a factory director. He harasses the Communists with all possible means, then he is enthusiastic to learn about Hitler's accession to rule. He is in love with Veronica, a girl of a working-class background, and he is baffled to hear that he has to share her with a Communist journalist. After the war the girl marries the journalist, but Rajnay's son shoots him dead. The police catches the murderer, and his father gets killed by the assassins from his own organisation in 1957.
