An adaptation of a play written by the Russian realist Alexander Ostrovsky. The social satire revolves around a dispute about a forest and its clandestine pillaging. Desplechin's first television project was made for Arte TV, cast with actors from the Comédie-Française and set in present times. The Forest complements Desplechin's other work consisting of psychological dramas with a comedy. (Febiofest)
