Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) and his family are in need of a vacation so he surprises his wife Debbie (Christina Applegate) by booking them and their two boys into the soon-to-be-closing Walley World to recreate the memorable vacation he had with his family 30 years ago. After a pit-stop visit to his parents Clark and Ellen (Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo), his sister Audrey (Leslie Mann) and annoyingly perfect brother-in-law Stone (Chris Hemsworth), Rusty and his family set off on their adventure which, in true Griswold tradition, is not without its setbacks, mishaps and horrific ordeals.
