Each short cartoon is devoted to one folkloric character whose stories have been orally transferred for several generations and thus firmly embedded in national awareness. Their grounds come from colonial time of Brazil and reflect myth of Amazonian Indians, superstitions of European colonists and talks of African slaves. Curupira, a guardian of forest and expert at all wild life in it; Boto, a pink freshwater dolphin who is able to transform into a human; Iara, a water empress with power of sirens; Matinta Perera, a witch who morphs into a bird during night and can perpetrate in human dwellings. And Sací, one-legged scamp who travels on whirlwind and causes troubles to bad people. All that in beautiful cartoons of Humberto Avelar. (Kino Brasil)
