English Finally, once again, there’s a movie where Eddie Murphy plays a serious, but also kind character. So kind, in fact, that Mr. Church makes you feel all warm and giddy during the entire movie and even afterwards. The movie tells an incredibly sweet human story and benefits form the fact that Eddie’s character is more mysterious than the Bermuda Triangle. The story slowly reveals the character and with each passing minute, the viewer finds out more and more interesting information about the life of a man that might as well be your neighbor. At the start, Mr. Church’s attitude took a lot of getting used to, but over time, this world of three people creates such an apparent and pleasant inkling to find out more about him that it stirs strange magical feelings within me. Plus, Mr. Church’s culinary skills are on par with genius, so the only issue was that after I watched the movie, I had to go raid my fridge. ()

English A film about how important it is to have a family, or at least friends you can rely on. A feel-good movie that, aside from decent performances and a few too many tear-jerking scenes, keeps itself mostly wholesomely civil and enjoyable, peppered with great jazz and "Shawshank" voiceovers that are dosed just when they're needed. English Ten minutes into the film, I decided to temporarily turn off the cynic in me and enjoyed a relaxing film that reminded me of Driving Miss Daisy several times. It was the first time I'd seen Eddie Murphy in a serious role in which he didn't goof around, so this film made me almost like him. I don't know how it's possible, but this is the third time I've seen Britt Robertson this week. That’s a Britt too much :-D. Mr. Church is a believable film. It does tug at your heartstrings, but thankfully the filmmakers didn't resort to pathos and kept it civil, which I appreciate. It was a good film. ()

English Some movies just get to you, and even though you know they have their flaws, you still have to praise them and recommend them to as many people as possible. This is exactly what Mr. Church is like. Eddie Murphy is incredibly civil and pleasant and one would wish him as many similar roles as possible where he shows his abilities. Yes, even with a stone face, he's excellent. ()

English A nice relaxing film that just made me feel good after watching it. The plot is easily predictable and uses many genre clichés, but so what? In the current bleak times, I love to see a beautiful story full of humanity and understanding. It should be noted that Eddie Murphy returned to the limelight in style with his performance in this film. (70%) ()
