Bad Lieutenant meets Lethal Weapon in this blackly-comic buddy cop thriller. This movie sets out to be a more than respectable movie or at least one that would have stood out in terms of quality on the list of movies Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood have made in recent years. Unfortunately this dark humor-spiked stylish heist film is saddled with a unsatisfactory finale, with a completely illogical twist based on a giant cliché in the form a a big moral dilemma, that really takes the movie down a peg, and negated most of the positive feelings I had about it. It's a shame!

The film has two actors whom I really like, and it has a story that could be good, but it isn't. It's too simple, it just wants to look good on the surface, but there's really nothing special underneath. Nicolas is classically great, just as I like him, but Elijah simply wasn't the right choice for this role, he's completely miscast.
